| Employment
Services Through the WorkOne Express Program, Career Corner provides employment consultants who work with clients to assess their needs, strengths and skills. Each consultant will assist the individual and help them develop an employability plan. Career Corner provides a two-week job readiness classes and life skills workshops. Placement specialists will assist clients with resume and cover letter development. Each placement specialist work with the client to match their skill set and interests for job placement. Clients have access to the computer lab, CS3 and other employment websites which will assist them to find perm ant employment. GED Preparation GED classes are provided on Monday and Wednesday evenings. Harshman Options Program for Excellence, HOPE This collaborative effort between the John H. Boner Community Center and Harshman Middle School focuses on assessing the needs of the school and adolescent. This program provides community resources into the school to assist with identified areas of need. Tech-One Provided by a partnership between the John H. Boner Community Center and Step-by-Step, this program allows individuals within the catchment area to utilize free computer training. Case Management Career Corner provides clients on the near Eastside who experience various crisis situations or are unable obtain employment. Case managers work with individuals to remove barriers such as lack of food or clothing, inability to pay rent or utilities or medications. When necessary, case managers will provide home visits to clients in need. Seasonal and Special Assistance Career Corner participates in seasonal and special programs. Energy assistance, winter assistance and FEMA are just a few of the special programs that case managers assist with at various times of the year when funds are available. The Career Corner Case Manager's also with the near Eastside community to provide Thanksgiving and Christmas assistance. |
