John H. Boner Community Center
Elder Alternative Adult Day Service

Craft Day The Boner Center's Elder Alternative Adult Day Service provides a safe place for older adults in the community to spend the day while their caregivers either go to work or take a well-needed break. This program seeks to maintain, restore and improve the participants' functional activities. Through daily events, such as lunch and snack time, individuals are encouraged to function at their optimal physical and cognitive level. The Boner Center Elder staff takes participants for walks and sets aside time for arts and crafts, and also provides a daily dose of current events, includind "Dear Abby".

The Boner Center's full-time on-site registered nurse monitors the participants' health, administers medication and provides each caregiver the assurance that their loved one is well cared for physically - and emotionally.

Adults who have health impairments that limit their involvement in the daily activities are eligible to enroll in the Elder Alternative Adult Day Service. This program operates Mondays through Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

In order to make this service more affordable to various family income, the Elder Program is based on a sliding fee scale.

The Elder Adult Day Service also offers the community a chance to utilize their Caregiver Library. This library is located in the back portion of the elder area. Caregivers are given the opportunity to research health care issues using the internet and can borrow relaxation videos in order to help care for their loved one. The Caregiver Library is open 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
