| Our
Mission |
We,
the members of Near East Side Community Organization (NESCO),
believe all people have the right to live in clean, safe, revitalized
neighborhoods that are free of crime and urban blight.
Our
mission is to support neighborhood associations through advocacy,
referral, technical assistance and implementation concerning
issues of importance to the neighborhood.

The
Arsenal Technical High School High Steppers perform at a September
14 Street Fair sponsored by NESCO, the East 10th Street Civic Association
and Ten East Main Street project. |
The
work we accomplish in Near Eastside neighborhoods is accomplished
largely through the efforts of volunteers. In 2001, volunteers
pledged 6,364 hours of their time in confidence of the NESCO
Mission.
In that same year, the generosity of our funders-corporate, foundation and
individual-enabled us to carry out our mission.
This year the need for that support still remains while foundations, corporations
and individuals face investment challenges following the 9-11 tragedy that
rocked our country. Those challenges have dramatically reduced the funds available
for non-profits in our country and state.
That is why we grow to depend on the generosity of our neighbors next door
and far away. Your generosity is a pledge of confidence in the need for cleaner
and safer Near Eastside neighborhoods and in our ability to make a difference.
To pledge your confidence by volunteering, call the NESCO office at 633-7300.
To pledge your confidence with a donation, send your tax-deductible donation
to: NESCO Charitable Trust, 2236 E. 10th St., Indianapolis, IN 46201.
Thanks for
becoming a partner in the NESCO mission of creating cleaner and
safer neighborhoods. |
