  Our Successes

In 2001, volunteers pledged 6,364 hours of their time and talents in confidence of the NESCO Mission of cleaner and safer Near Eastside neighborhoods.

In 2001, NESCO volunteers achieved these landmarks:

Removed 4.4 million pounds of trash;
Reduced crime on the Near Eastside by 28 percent since 1998;
28 neighbors received repairs to keep them in their homes;
475 people received information about home ownership training;
Eight families were helped to purchase homes, two families helped to refinance homes with one family able to avert foreclosure and remain in the neighborhood;
Raised $16,190 in operating funds;
1,521 people were referred to Christmas help, heat assistance, employment, housing, poor relief, food pantries, senior services and community policing;
Organized a civic group that has applied for Main Street status to revitalize East 10th Street.
We are proud of the successes our volunteers achieve day in and day out in their neighborhoods.
